RoS Beta released. Declared epic win (to a degree).

Well ladies and gents, it's here. FliplineStudios finally released the beta for Kong's greatest (in my opinion at least) premium game. While there are a few bugs to be ironed out still, and a few bits left to be implemented, the game already comes across as a highly polished and highly addicting bit of fun.

Indeed there has been a major Kongregate upgrade... They have tweaked the game page slightly, but the main part of it is the chat! It has been completely redone... the upgrade includes many new and improved features such as:

More detailed profile page (Recently played games, Lastest badges)
Improved PM'ing interface (PM User Link)
MANY Details about the game you are playing (Badges, Card, Game Info)
A shiny new silver theme
Improved "Browser-like" scroll bar

My Holy Quest

Notice: I'm probably going to be starting very early Saturday morning, like 6 AMish, so as to avoid my family. Don't ask. :D

Tune into DM1 sometime around Friday night/Saturday morning to see the beginning of Juice's Holy Quest!

I will pay attention to chat for exactly 24 hours straight, joining in every single conversation, saying hello and goodbye to everyone who enters and leaves, and just doing about anything anyone asks, with only occasional food/bathroom/stuff breaks. My breaks will be no longer than 15 minutes.

That's the basic idea. More information will be revealed to you later. Or something. I'll be recording the whole thing, so you won't miss out.

If you want to be nice and stay up with me, or bring me some cookies and milk during the late night when absolutely no one's talking, I'd really appreciate it.

KotG dared me to do this, and with the success of my quest, he gives me 1 respect point and posts a good picture of himself on the Photo Topic. Even if he ends up wussying out and not posting or giving me RESPEK, I still think this is going to be fun as hell.

Coolest History Lesson You'll Ever Have! (Part 2)

It's now the fall of 06, and the plan to spell congregate with a k is starting to come together. The front page is updated with more information, and the site starts taking game submissions from developers.

In November of 2006 Kongregate starts allowing people in their private alpha; they also get the "Kongregate" which other then the moving of the "Beta" logo hasn't changed till this day.

And in January of 2007 Kongregate goes public! (You can see the news announcement here!) The site now looks very familiar for anyone who has been on the site for over a year. There's now forums, a working chat with multiple rooms and moderators. Word of the game contests had begun to spread throughout the flash developers community. Kongregate also is starting to look at games to sponsor. The first of which would be RotaZion-Which was on of the first games on kongregate!

Kongregate is really starting to take shape, and soon the site would officially move past the alpha stage and onto the oh so familiar beta stage.

Have you ever wondered what Kongregate was like before you can to it? I bet you did! And I would like to give you some insight into Kongregate. It all starts with Jim Greer. Before Kongregate Jim Greer was the head of pogo.com (Which is owned by EA). Jim saw how popular Pogo was, and how popular Youtube was, and I'm guessing he put two, and two together and combined the two. And don't forget about the idea to make it like Xbox live; that idea lead to achievements!

In the spring/summer of 2006 Jim started organizing the Kongregate staff. The first staff member hired was BenV, a co-worker of Jims from Pogo. Actually, two more people left pogo with Jim.

More good games that weren't rated as well as they should have, or never where put on the front page when they should have.

Speedway Tower Defense: Speedway Tower Defense is another well done TD. For a TD game the gave is very well coded, and doesn't have that good of graphics. (That means that it won't lag unless you have a very poor computer!) There is a twist though, you also control a character with your arrow keys, this adds another dimension of game to it, namely on the harder levels!

Typeroids: Typeroids is a typing game, meets Asteroids, meets The Last Stand. The goal in Typeroidstand (Look at that I made a bad pun!) is to type the letter on the Asteroid before it hits the bottom part of the screen. You gain points for every asteroid you distroy, and lose health for every asteroid that reaches the bottom of the screen, or incorrect letter you type.

Laser Stryker: Laser Stryker is an old style arcade game that actually runs on the same engine as Blast Force. You goal is to clear the various level of their enemies. The game starts out very easy but gets much harder as it goes on. Laser Force has pretty good graphics for a flash game, but is limited in terms of rating by it's repetitive gameplay

In an effort to help build community pride, which in hopes will help keep DM1 well behaved, fun, and one of the best places to hang out.

The forum has a new look, a couple new boards (Off-topic, and Ikariam discussion). I have also added a bunch of other styles on the forum. Once you sign up on it you can pick which one you want!

I'm also going to do beta-tests of my upcoming games through the forum. So if you're going to want to be in those in the future (I hope Deep Space Glow will be ready for a beta test in around 2 weeks!).

Breach 2: Breach 2 is 2DArray's expansion on the first breach (Which got a card challenge way back when!). Seems very different from the first breach; it contains an upgrade system and revamped gamepley.

Super Mario Time Attack REMIX: Just another Mario sim game. Nothing really special, but instead of it being a platformer it's more of a time trial thing. Save the princess save the world!

Raptor Jesus VS Chuck Norris: God save you, you will love this game. P.S. Raptor Jesus is charging his Lasooooor!!

Going to start posting little bit of info for some unknown games that I enjoy!

Don't Shit Your Pants: A very quick, and very funny text adventure where you do as the game tittle implies. The game is short but offers an in-game achievement system to add replay value.

Duck & Dodge: A fun mouse controlled path/avoidance game. A very well done, quick, and fun game. It's pretty much what I think spitty wants to make for FtD, except better!

Race Choppers: A semi-3D racing game. Nothing special but it'll give you ten good minutes of time wasting. Keyboard controlled with good art and graphics.

(NINJA POLICE CAR THROWING NINJA STARZ DOOZ RUN RUN RUN)

Hello there guys, me here. I'm not sure if any of you have noticed this yet, but Run Elephant Run is on Kongregate. I have played this game on Armor Games, and I love it. For those of you who have been living in a hole, it is obviously made by jmtb02, creator of such badge-winning games such as Achievement Unlocked and Elephant Rave. In Run Elephant Run, you must run away from the AMERICANS who have forced you into a long term performing contract in the U.S., ultimately keeping you away from your wife. This game expresses the journey of this elephant and his journey from California all the way to the other side of the world, in Africa, to find his wife. On the way there, he encounters many obstacles, such as NINJA-STAR-THROWING POLICE CARS!

One could say that this game shows some bad ethical implications on part of the AMERICANS, but I won't get that deep.

We did get some interviews though:

"This game tells you the touching story of a blue elephant who has been contracted by the AMERICANS to be in the showbiz business for two more years. Hey guys, For this week's challenge i have chosen Super Stacker 2. Most of you have played the original as it received badges a few weeks ago. The main idea is to stack the given blocks in such a way that they do not fall... The challenge is to beat one of the four groups of stacks as fast as possible. The only thing is who ever beats the harder ones gets ahead over everyone on the earlier levels. In other words, beat the hardest one you can as fast as possible! =D

Hey there guys, so you guys may know, Idlekips is out! (Yay! Wow! Woo! Yeah, Idlekips! Looks like we got some Wikia editing to do). Anyways. You guys know of Idle 2.: Konquest, yes? Well, this is the future of that! With no storyline but instead achievements based on in-game status and Kongregate status, and game chat, this game is win. With 50 items to buy (with more promised) and 58 achievements to get (with more promised), I just have to say, "can i be modz so i can get one achievementz? i giv pointz!"

Currently, you might be wondering how to buy items for your character. One other aspect of this game is its own points. You get points based on a complex formula involving your own points, the number of achievements you have in Idlekips, and you get 10 points per minute.

Also, unlike Idle 2.: Konquest, this game has an autosave (every minute), along with a manual save (just in case, and with achievements to go along with it! <3), style="font-style: italic;">Washington Post: we liek idlekipz! 5/5

This weeks challenge is Sproing Reloaded. Im sure everybody has played Sproing but for those who haven't, the rules are simple, a ball is attached to your cursor via a rubber band like thingy and you try to swing that ball into clear orbs, and avoid other ones! The challenge is to whack as many of them pesky orbs as possible (Not including the bad ones). Difficulty doesnt matter! Good luck and Have Fun!

Wizky (Me) was in Dystopia last night, pretending to be Wizky (Who is Wizko now) with coaching from Wizko. After some flaming on my part, Wizko came in and argued that he was the real Wizky (Wizko). We managed to keep up this play for about an hour and a half.

Wizky has said, "THIS IS PURE WIN"

The plan was ruined when AC came in and used her special admin powerz to find out I was really MDN, and then banned some of my alts based off that. (But don't worry, she doesn't know the circumstances for each of the alts. They will become ressurrected. Well, atleast the only three I care about).

Anyway, we went, we had fun, we got discovered, all while being pure win while flaming eachother.

World of Goo Review

I'm MyDreamName, and I'm going to be reviewing World of Goo today, in which websites such as 2Dboy give a lot of info on the game.

World of Goo is a great game with a story. It is based on mostly physics, so it is in the physics genre, you play the goo balls, in a sense, and in every level you want to get as many as possible to the pipe, found somewhere in the level. There are many types of goo balls to be found, and the gameplay possibilities are HUGE. There is also a great demo that gives you the whole first chapter, so you get a lot of time to experience it before deciding whether to purchase it or not. It is also very cheap, 1500 WiiWare points (Yes, you can buy it on the Wii! I have done this too, it is epic) or $20 on the computer. It is also an indie game that met huge success, which to me, is a huge plus after Spore.

GRAPHICS: (10/10): The graphics are at a plus here, since I can actually play this game on my laptop without worrying about lag due to intensive graphics. It is 2D though, although the graphics never make up the whole of the game. The graphics fit the game well and support my laptop, and I am very happy.

AUDIO/SOUND: (10/10): The audio composition was great. No one spoke, but there was no need for someone to speak. The sign painter did all the speaking. And I swear, some of the tunes in the game actually made me cry.

GAMEPLAY: (9/10): Many levels and a metagame in there a plus!

CONTROLS: (10/10): Drag and drop to build. Simple. May be harder on a laptop, though.

REPLAYABILITY: (10/10): Yes! Did all of the levels finally with no skips? Improve on them and send your scores to the Goo Board of Excellence and compare them with people around the world! Also tired of trying to improve on your levels? Never fear, the World of Goo Corporation is the classic fun we are all looking for! In that stage, you can build a tower using your extra goo balls (the limit is 300 because of fire codes) and also compare them with other users. The current record is around 46 meters.

Final rating: 4.9/5 (Highly recommended for you to at least try the demo!)

Today I'm going to review the game Hexiom Connect which was developed by http://www.biclopsgames.com/ and sponsered by http://www.kongregate.com/ .

Hexiom Connect is a game from the original, Hexiom, where you have to move tiles around a board to create a shape. As the levels move on, the game boards get bigger and more challenging shapes need to be created and towards the end, even 3d shapes need to be created! With features such as uploading and creating your own levels, this game could keep you busy for hours.

Graphics - The graphics are mainly good, they aren't as good as some games, but they are mainly good. - 8/10

Audio/Sound - The music when you first play will be very relaxing, but after a while, you might find the need to mute the music. And the special effects. - 7.5/10

Gameplay - The gameplay will keep you busy for hours and will probably have you come back for more! - 10/10

Controls - Some of the most easiest controls a game has ever had, it's just clicking one of the tiles and moving it to another place on the board. - 10/10

Replayability - Unless you don't like puzzle games or are really boring, you would come back to this at least twice. - 9/10

Final Rating - 4.5/5
